The Officer Michael Osornio DUI Award

Due to the drunk driver that caused the death of Officer Michael Osornio at the intersection of La Habra & Beach Blvd's, a DUI Award was established. Each year, research is conducted by the department to determine which officer arrested the most driving under the influence (DUI) drivers for each calendar year. At the Orange County Chapter Of MADD banquet each year, the officer is recognized for their efforts and hard work to remove these impaired drivers from the streets of our community. We have listed the officer's name and year each were presented with this prestigious award. An awards plaque is also hung in the department reflecting each officer's award.

It is with great sadness this award has to be known by its namesake caused by the death of Officer Osornio or any officer. No officer should have to pay the ultimate price for doing their job and serving their community but it is a possibility each officer is aware of each day they report for duty. We miss Mike and know he is watching over each and every officer serving this city. We miss you Mike.
